The village of Omodos has become popular due to the location of a special attraction – the monastery of the Holy Cross. The building was built at the beginning of the fourth century by the Holy Queen Helena – this is the empress of Byzantium.
After the destruction of the building, it was reconstructed and restored to be visited by tourists. Now the Church of the Holy Cross Cyprus has become a working parish shrine.
The building was painted by talented artists from the Russian Empire. The last works of the monastery were made by the hand of the Greek icon painter Othon Yapopoulos. In the gallery you can see fascinating works that are now considered ancient values of the island state.
